All of the redactions were hashed over at the time the police report came out. Many people were involved in seeing that the state statute was followed. Why the Duggars are bringing this up now is the question. The county definitely had lawyers looking it all over before it was released plus the Duggars were notified that the FOIA request was filed and could have taken action then.

Maybe they are trying to get the heat off of Josh's lawsuit by fanning the flames with the girls lawsuit.

Maybe he thinks they can get enough money to pay for Josh's so he doesn't have to draw it out of his hoarded money.

Shows the attorneys and all the defendants!!!

They certainly expect to get a ton of money.

Interesting that only the 4 who were molested are the ones who were quickly married off and this was filed just as the teenage Joy is getting married. Now, all the trash can come out and Jim Bob won't be wringing his hands trying to figure out how to find someone to marry them. AND they have a chance of each becoming wealthy and continue never having to work again.... without taking Jim Bob's stash

Jana wasn't rushed into marriage like these 4, so she has a chance of getting a man on her own.

I don't see how Jill and Jessa could sue,if they are.I haven't read it yet.But they outed themselves,so it would seem any lawsuit by them or on behalf of them, would have no merit

Bahaha, J Boob and Michelle wishing baby ben a happy birthday. They make sure to compliment ben on the fact that he is a hard worker. Doing what? being a reality tv star? changing diapers? lifting weights? that boy hasn't worked a day since he got married and I doubt he worked very much before that either.

Andrea said...

The Duggar's are so ignorant it would not surprise me if Jill's baby was born with microcephaly due the zika virus. I'm wondering if she's even had a single ultrasound done?!

Real World said...

Who was the "anonymous tipster" that informed police of Josh's molestation of his sisters? So, is it correct to assume that the police would not have ever been involved had it not been for the anonymous tipster?

Also, which sister supposedly told JimBoob and J'Chelle about Josh touching his sisters? Was it Jill or Jana? Maybe in reality Jana is no push over - Josh didn't molester her, and JimBoob wasn't able to force her into courtship.

Shocked it took dim bulb this long to latch onto another way to make money i.e. the breach of privacy lawsuit.
Lets not address the actual events that started the whole thing in an honest way.
And then marrying off egonaniac dough boy to poor dumb anna.
Eewww them in bed together ewww thats how you know she's brainwashed.

I've seen it on other sites that people who live in the same area are fed up with the Duggars and their shenanigans. I am sure this law suit will piss many more off, including the local police force. John David is a volunteer constable on the force so this will no doubt make things akward for him when he goes to play cop. Jimbob is law suit happy and I am sure this is why no one has come forward to spill more beans about them. On a lighter note Sierra hasn't posted for a couple of days, must be busy with all the Duggar wedding prep!

I thought the same thing Daley. Hope it all backfires and brings these greedy, pious, hypocrites down once and for all. Sadly I used to be a fan.

sandi said...

I believe it was Jill who tattled on Josh.So Josh gushing over his parents saying Jill was the perfect daughter they'd been waiting for,was ridiculous.
I'm sure Jill has had an ultrasound, since they know they are expecting a boy

Why didn't Jinger speak out when Jill & Jessa were all over the tv telling the world what happened to them? Also what about the friend of the family who was visiting? I may be wrong but I thought she was a friend of the older girls. Is her father going to follow in Jim Bob's footsteps & make money since his daughter was molested. Is it possible that her family doesn't want to put her out front in public to make money off of her, since so far she has not been publicly named. Jim Bob is a pig coming up with this foolish stunt & I believe it's him & only him who came up with the this. It's been all over the internet that Jim Bob has been worried sick about the declining rating on the "Counting On" show. First he married the girls off immediately & now this. All for the publicity. Apparently he tried to get TLC to have Josh on the "Counting On " show & they caved but then the sponsors spoke up. He's a snake in the grass, knowing that any publicity good or bad will bring in viewers. I hope people will finally see these parents for what they are & stop supporting them by viewing the show. Boys get molested too, how would Jim Bob have handle this if any of his sons had been molested? I'm sure it would be a lot different than the way he handled the girls molestation. So this is how you treat your "Blessings." God forgive him he's a disgrace as a man & especially as a father & Michelle just sits there & lets him do this to his daughters. Someday his granddaughters will read all about their loving grandfather. Wonder what they will think?

Pam said...

As much as I hate to defend Jill, to be fair, She should have told on Josh for what he did.

Tori said...

Just disgusted: Jinger didn't speak out at the same time Jill and Jessa did because at the time she was not married (not sure if Jeremy was even in the picture) and I am sure JB wouldn't let her incase it ruined her reputation and jepordised her chances of marriage. I read somewhere a while back that Jimbob went to the parents of the other girl, and got reassurances that they would not be coming forward, however the girl was very upset about it all (to even do this is disgusting, no thought whatsoever for what any of these girls went through, just protect Josh and the Duggar brand). I wonder have TLC told him that this may be the final season, lets face it what have they left, only Jana getting married would save this woeful excuse for a TV show and I can't see that happening.

colen said...

Just a thought what if "Alice" was Jana?

Just Disgusted said...

I wonder if Jim Bob paid off the other girl's father? If he didn't it's probably the only one he hasn't paid off in this disgusting Josh scandal. If he didn't they are probably members of the same cult. That poor girl. I wonder who the idiots are that are watching this disgusting ministry/show. So much for how thankful they are for their "Blessings." That must only be if they have a boy, as girls have no worth or value, except to raise their mother's kids & then start producing more & more babies. Look at Jana, she's now moved on to caring for her sister's kids since she hasn't fulfilled her duty of marrying & producing babies. Everyone keeps saying why doesn't someone do something? The only thing that anyone can do is to stop watching this disgusting soap opera & let the ratings go down the drain. Please do your part if you care about these girls!

Ridiculous said...

Re: Pam's comment defending Jill, yes it may have been Jill who told on Josh. However we only have Jim Bob & Michelle's word that it was Jill that told on Josh. Since she is the favorite, it's entirely possible that it was one of the other girls that was molested who actually told on Josh but Jill is being given credit for stepping up to the plate & doing the right thing. How much of what Jim Bob & Michelle say can be believed?

Willow said...

I believe they are filing the law suit at this exact time so as to draw attention away from Josh's law suit. Isn't he supposed to go to court at the end of May? I really think TLC would have to think long and hard about letting Josh re-appear on the show at the this time, when the two law suits are making the news; but then who can know for sure with TLC and Jim Bob. Jim Bob is the lowest of low-life, IMO. Sorry. I am sure he gets all the money from TLC, even for Counting On and he can distribute it how he wants. Does anyone know, or think, that he might also get the magazine money, or is that a different thing all together? Thanks.

Emma said...

This show was only ever a ministry in Jimbobs own mind. At the very beginning he may have thought he was drawing people to his particular screwed up brand of christianity, but as it grew in popularity and he got a taste of fame and more importantly $ he was hooked and now that is all that matters. This lawsuit is a final grasp at straws for $$ and attention, the show is going down the pan and Jimbob is in a panic. I agree nobody should watch this mess until it disappears for good.

Anyone else think its weird that they are suing for breach of privacy but they went and made a tv special to talk about it?
They CHOSE to do that, they didnt have to say one single word about it. Wonder how that will be brought up in court.
And they are seeking 10-15 million I read somewhere which makes sense cuz then they really wont ever have to work.
They want to be rewarded for being awful parents.
Hahaha crazy.

I am horrified to hear that JImbob is asking for 10 to 15 million. There is no breach of privacy when they post every move they make and addressed this on tv. Anyway, what would Jimbob do with the 10 to 15 million? Give about $800,000. to each child so they can have independent lives, a business, an education and house? Or will he donate to Christian charity? No, he will hoard it until the day he dies as his children whine and beg for money from the dwindling fan base. I am so sick of the lying Duggars. I have more respect for the Kardashians.

sandi said...

I'm not saying Jill shouldn't have told on Josh, only that Josh putting Jill on a pedestal and talking about her the way he did,was obviously fake, imo

sandi said...

I hope this frivilous lawsuit gets kicked out of court.I would love to see Judge Judy handle it! But they want more than 5k,so that's out.
Any decent judge worth a grain of salt would not let this go fwd, imo. It's ridiculous to sue your local police;what happens when you need them?
There are a lot of issues that will be addressed, should it go to court. The astounding hypocrisy of it all,the Duggars love for money, and the timing of it all....way too suspicious. And that's just for starters

This is the end! said...

Where did the Duggars find an idiot Attorney who would take this frivolous lawsuit? Any lawyer who is involved with this, will end up with his name being mud & not a client left. I think the Duggars have totally lost their minds & I hope the judge will call the men in the white coats to haul them off to an asylum. Enough is enough people & where the hell does TLC stand in all this? They had to know this was coming & they need to throw the entire bunch of them out, & if they have a contract which I doubt, then TLC should show them a morals clause that indicates you cannot act this way or treat your children in such a demeaning way. Those girls were forced into that TV interview, just as surely as they were once forced into giving blood. Who does Jim Bob Duggar think he is? I know the answer to my own question...he thinks he's God himself. I don't care what religion anyone is, or if they are an atheist for that matter. I don't believe in a God that in anyway resembles Jim Bob Duggar & his commandments. And yes Jim Bob has his own set of commandments for his family. They have no freedom, no privacy, no rights, that they are entitled to. After all, many are of legal age. Jim Bob is absolutely off his rocker to come up with an idea like this & if his adult children go along with this,I will no longer consider them brainwashed, I will consider them just as crazy as their father. The married ones should at least have a clue by now & realize that they are entitled to lives of their own & they don't have to ask "how high" when their father says "jump." Jim Bob is just looking for a settlement & you know what he'll get it from everyone he's suing!

Just Furious said...

How strange that it will again be the girls who will have to take center stage, only this time in court instead on TV, to talk about what happened to them & how they were victimized by magazines, TV, social media, etc. Of course, no mention of Josh. They'll bail him out again. Was it the girls who contacted Megan Kelly & Fox TV the first time, or was it Jim Bob Duggar? I'll let you guess on that one. Again Josh gets out of the entire mess & it's left up to his sisters to somehow get a settlement for their father who is obviously panicking about drop in the ratings. Josh gets off scot free, which is good, as he has been though extensive therapy for his sexual addiction & is completely cured of any of those old feelings that could lead to molesting & various inappropriate sexual actions, i.e. cheating on his wife, involvement with prostitutes. His father receives a settlement for what happened to the girls & the girls, well they get what they've always gotten from their father & brother...can't really write it here but I have a feeling everyone can guess take a good guess about that. Well it must be about time for "Family Devotions," in the homes of the various Duggars. Wonder what Jim Bob is praying for now?

roddma said...

If the daughters should sue anyone it's Josh and their parents. No one made Jill and Jessa confess on national TV. Jim Bob and Michelle put them on TV with no regards to privacy. Ironic, how they want to sue In Touch when so many articles have been published on them already beforehand, and other similar mags. it isn't like In Touch choose just that one story.
Upon reading privacy laws, they are for non-public people. When you are in the public eye, your revealed personal life has no bounds.they had been non-public, and this happened then yes it's a breech. It isn't gonna hold water.

Do we know for sure who is footing the bill for the lawsuit? Today's (May 20th) issue of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette has a front page article which states, "The Duggars are represented by a Los Angeles law firm, Larson O'Brien. Anyone know about this firm or any possible TLC connection? You can read the full lawsuit at arkansasonline.com/51917 duggarlawsuit

sandi said...

John David is or was a constable;I don't know about anything else

Kitty Kazz said...

Just read that a bidding war has started with major networks as to who will get the girls exclusive interview about the lawsuit. Yes the lawsuit where they strenuously objected to their privacy being violated over the outing of themselves as victims of their brothers sexual misconduct, resulting in the girls reliving past trauma and shame. More public scrutiny and worldwide coverage is the answer.

Just Furious said...

I just want to clarify that my comments about Josh having gone through extensive therapy & being cured of his sexual addiction, i.e. molestation, cheating on his wife, visiting prostitutes & being addicted to porn, were all sarcastic. I certainly don't believe for one minute that Josh ever saw a qualified therapist & received any help at all. It would take more than the few months he was away, "if" & that's a big "if," he was actually away from the Duggar compound, for that time, to even make a dent in these matters. Certainly coming from the home environment he did,it is impossible to say whether there could even be any "cure" for his extremely serious problems, something he has been dealing with since he was a young teen. He'd need a well qualified therapist who specialized in sexual addiction for a very long period of time, to even make a dent in these sexual addiction problems, he has dealt with for such a long period.

saywhat said...

Sandi, I know he was a constable, that is why I wrote, 'playing' cop. As a constable, they usually make friends with real police officers. Anyhow, there was a real police cruiser in the drive of the Duggars home this past Christmas. Jessa made a video pulling into their drive that morning. I think you can find it on their website or instagram. Not sure if John David got to use one for being a constable or what. But it is definitely at the Duggar's home Christmas morn. It was 7 in the morning, she referenced. She believed nobody was up yet.

Elspeth said...

The story that I have heard is that Jim Bob bought an old police cruiser and keeps it parked outside the compound to deter casual callers (fans) from trying to get in to see them. It's there all the time.

The rudeness of the Duggar boys and Ben wearing hats inside and particularly at the table has bigger Mr for years. My son has played baseball his entire life and we were constantly at tournaments and eating out with his team etc. many times I would tell him to take off his hat. I want the mother to the other boys but HE was going to take off the hat.

Nothing cuter than a boy with messy hair eating lunch knowing he has the manners to take off his hat at the table.
With all their rules why doesn't Michelle or Jimbob follow the universal rule about men and hats indoors?

Jeni said...

I agree with Stephanie that boys should be taught to remove their hats indoors, although not just at the table, anytime they enter a home whether it's their home or someone else's home. I taught my son that it was important. Guess I'm a little older than some bloggers but I still remember with fondness the days when men would tip their hat to a woman. There are still some elderly men in my town who do that & it's just a feeling that good manners make good people. My son & daughter were taught to ask at the table when they finished their dinner "may I be excused?" They have both told me they have been laughed at for that but they still do it, at least they do it in my house.

Stephanie said...

Sorry about all my typos above. Yikes. And yes hats off indoors no matter what.

Jimbob sells his children for publicity & money. He is a sick, delusional & cruel man.

Just Disgusted said...

I believe the reason we have not heard much about Joseph & Kendra's courtship is because, people are just not that interested in the boy's courtships. After Josiah & Marjorie's courtship fell apart, Jim Bob & his PR team reverted to their cave to come up with something to save their "ministry." That meant that Joseph was put on the same auction block as his sisters had been. However Jim Bob overlooked the fact that people remembered Josh's courtship. How he followed the rules set down for him, except possibly for the excessive "hand sex." Look at what was hiding in the shadows. People are more interested in the girls & if they are following the strict guidelines the parents have for them. Also if their intended will follow every rule Jim Bob has for them, including absolutely giving the correct answer to every question Jim Bob has for them. Since Joseph's courtship didn't bring the interest & publicity Jim Bob was expecting, Joy was immediately entered into a courtship with someone we were told she had known for almost her entire life. If she had known Austin for her entire life & had the feelings she claims to have had for him, she never would have been let out of the house, even if she had 19 chaperones. These young people have had their lives ruined by an overbearing father & a sniveling mother, who has no backbone to stand up & do the right thing for her children. It's not that difficult Michelle. It's just believing you've raised them well enough to make their own good decision & not have someone telling them what to do, how to do it, when to do it. Let them have the same freedom you had to marry who they choose, if they even choose to marry, or work at what they want. In other words just have the freedom to live their own lives. You've lived yours let them live theirs!

Kitty Kazz said...

Great post :) Next daughter to marry after Joy is what, 9 now ?? Boys just dont get the ratings hey JB. You've thought that the lawsuit $15 million will cover whatever payout Josh may have to compensate his catfish victim, and cover the possible axing of the girls show due to low ratings. No more daughters to marry off for a few years. Its your bold attempt JB to cash in, with one big almighty pay day. The tide of public opinion is turning JB and I think you can sense that.

Opie said...

I think there is interest in seeing any girl that would be interested in marriage with a Quiverfull cult male. How could they be so stupid? How were they raised? Do they understand what married life with no birth control will be like for them?

Meme said...

Just Disgusted, that was a TREMENDOUS post! If only Michelle Duggar would read it. You nailed her. I blame her for so much of this mess. Most of "us wives" know how to reel in our husbands when they need it. EVERYONE needs to be reeled in at times...saved from ourselves, so to speak. When Jim Bob Duggar presented her with a way of life that benefitted HIM why didn't she at least question it? I've truly never understood that.
People in Springdale are buzzing about the lawsuit, I hear. No one has had much to say about the Duggars until now. So you are right, Just Disgusted, this seems to be a ploy for attention and ratings. The poor girls are being used again, of course, to do Daddy's bidding.

Misty Leland said...

Jimbob will have to wait 7 years until his next daughter is legally able to marry at 16 years old. It's accepted now that Jana will never marry, just live in her little sheltered life, putting on her makeup each day and going about her loveless life, never to be held or kissed by a man. How long can she smile sweetly for her sister's lives & babies and not crack up? Seems like it's a hard sell for Jimbob to get rid of his uneducated, jobless boys who are getting older and balder by the minute. As the boring show looses fans, he goes forward with the lawsuit and garner as much money as possible to hoard.....hoard for what I wonder as the children still shop at thrift stores, there is no funds put out for education and every trip they take is TLC funded. Now the married girls will have to relive the molestation by Josh so Jimbob can make more money for himself.

Marites H. said...

"Do they understand what married life with no birth control will be like for them?"

I get the feeling these girls (sheltered hyper-Gothard type) have had little to no instruction from their moms about intimacy in marriage other than Michelle's little gem "Be available. Only you can meet this need for your husband." A distant relative through marriage to the Wallers (Anna's sister's husband's family) got married about 4 years ago and has had a baby each year since then. They are not as diligent about posting updates, but I'm thinkin' she's got #5 on the way. She was barely out of Bible college (21 maybe??) when they married.

The next Duggar girl in line is the oldest of the younger 4...and she's 11. I can't recall her "J" name right now. She's past ripe to be the next housemaid assistant, kitchen maid to Jana and laundress for her mother. What a life; she's got a lazy, entitled mother who has really never learned herself how to run a household OR cook any meal other than a scrambled egg. Michelle is still a 17 year old immature, unorganized teenager when it comes to running a household. I know, I run my own without any daughters to do it for me. It can be done and it's quite easy when you don't work outside of the house with a job. She has 40 hours to get it done and still can't do it herself. Michelle is NO example of an adult woman.

Johanna (Hannie) will be 12 this year. Getting closer to her big day..lol. Seems as if Joy was that age and blink, she is getting married soon. But yeah, maybe in another 6 years JB will have another Duggar wedding. So sad Jana is so sheltered and cannot go out with friends (without sister chaperones!) to meet nice guys. Even at church functions, without JB or Michelle getting involved. Just someone whom she falls for. She and her friend Laura are hopefully escaping the compound at night and are at least getting ice cream together, scoping the guys out!

Just Disgusted said...

Thanks to those who commented on my previous post. Another thing the Duggars kids are sorely missing in their lives is love & attention. I've always thought Michelle & Jim Bob were in this for the count. Boy did they ever want 20. Whenever they go on these TLC trips & are boarding a plane or train, they do a count,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 & so forth. They never say we have, Jackson, Johanna,Jenny, Jordyn, Josie. Well of course they know they have Josie, as she receives attention but love, I'm not so sure about. When I think of the love & attention that those little ones would receive from people who have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to term, it makes me ill to see how ignored they are & how they care for themselves at such a young age, or are already starting their training to be a sister-mom. Forget abut schooling the laundry needs to be done. Meanwhile, Michelle & Jim Bob are either traveling the country telling other parents the right way to raise their children or Jim Bob is busy preparing another lawsuit. This of courses is where the older girls become important. So the older girls are watched constantly to be sure they are following every "Duggar Rule" & the little ones are on their own.

Anyone wondering who will marry the Duggar boys should look no further than this family. I found their blog when I searched Paul Caldwell's name in google images. If I was a daughter of age, I'd take my chances with one of the Duggar boys. I think this is clearly the type of pool the Duggar's draw from. There are some photos in the link of Ginger's wedding.

PS I find this family scary. The dad especially gives me the creepy.

Emma said...

Andrea: while on the blog did you happen to see the recent tweet they posted for their oldest girls 'graduation' from home school? It was one of the creepiest and saddest thing I have ever seen, it was basically an advertisement selling their daughter off. They also have a youtube vlog and on it there was a little video of each child thanking their parents for home schooling them and how evil ordinary and even christian schools are. They also have a video defending the Duggars I just didn't have the stomach to watch that one! They would fall over themselves to have a daughter marry into the duggar family, they really think they are 'fundie' royalty. People should check this out because I think this is how the Duggars would be if TLC hadn't showed up with a cheque book! Ps: did you notice that the kids are all rake thin and pale almost sick looking, but dad doesn't look like hes been missing any meals.

That's Jill and David.Jill always looks like she's stuck in the 80's.
I've been reading their blog for awhile now. They are friends with the Duggars and Bates.I'm sure Jill would be over the moon if one of their 12 kids landed a Duggar or Bates offspring.I'm not sure Davud would even care.Jill seems to wear hte 'pants' in the family, and he just seems to go along with whatever she wants.
They're as good at grifting as JB and Gil.They even grifted a house, among many other things, and neither of them have ever had a job. They go around to different churches, performing and accepting love offerings for a 'living'

A few years ago I was watching an story about why reality tv starts so frequently get divorced. The thought was that the producers try so hard to make normal activities seem interesting that they start mugging up each person into a character. The people/character gets so used to acting that way that they can't turn it off even when the cameras are off. It starts to put stress on the families to always be "on", and other family members feel stress watching the people they know and love change.

I wonder what stress being on tv has for this family. We have definitely watched this family evolve and change from boring prairie dress wearing families into this corporate structured group that dresses immodestly. Jill and Michelle, in my opinion, are always mugging up their tv character with their surprised google eyes, and Anna was running around clueless for a few seasons, and don't get me started on Derrick. I know there will be no divorces, but what cracks have appeared in this family? Are these kids doomed?

Mickey2942 said...

Agreed. How can you really teach 19 children manners at the dinner table? Just getting them fed is the goal.

everythingieverwanted said...

I took at look at the Rodrigues family website and OH MY GOSH, I cannot believe the post about the daughter who is graduating. It was definitely an advertisement for future husbands and it, quite frankly, made me sick. The part where they stressed that they are so excited to have her living in their home "until we walk her down the aisle"......and over and over again stressing her heart to find a Godly man etc., and then the points that they had her write out regarding what type of a man she is looking for. The part where they focus on dressing modestly.......It seems like the Duggars, Bates and this family think that as long as your dress is longer and doesn't show much cleavage and arms then it is modest.......what about the part where they cling to the figure and show ever curve the young lady has. Modest dressing is much more than the length of the dress etc,. and I was a little shocked at how the dress she had on in he pictures clung to her figure.

On another note, I also really looked at the website and tried to really see what type of "ministry" they have for people to "support". I am sorry, printing religious tracts and traveling with your family band does not a ministry make. Essentially what they are asking people to do is support their large family where mother and father don't work. I was just shocked by their site. Amazing that people fall for that. I could keep going, I was just shocked by that site. WOW.

So the Dillard's are already back in Arkansas, just in time to escape the danger (a few days after the murder) and just in time for Joy's wedding. Betcha a million bucks they don't rush off after the wedding. They'll wait and wait and wait, they they'll beg for more money and THEN they will tearfully return. Someone mentioned in an earlier post that Jessa might be disappointed in her lazy husband. I wonder if Jill feels the same? Seems like Derick preferred being a missionary to a 9 to 5 (real) job. So he's back to missionary-ing. I've even wondered if Derick is hoping that Jim Bob will become worried enough about Jill's safety to offer the couple financial support if they will only move back home! If so, Derick is gonna have a nice, long wait. Of course, there's always the lawsuit........

Pray that new baby is free of Zika as it is doubtful she has had any medical care during her pregnancy. I predict Jill will have close to a nervous breakdown at the prospect of leaving the free & comfortable McMansion and her helping little siblings, to obey her headship and risk lives in the steamy jungle with a very real possibility of kidnapping for ransom. It's all so crazy..they do nothing of any substance down there. Why can't they help out in the USA with Habitat for Humanity right there in Arkansas or reach out the poor mountain communities that may need some religious guidance and help starting businesses to support themselves.....oops....how would Derrick know about supporting himself??? The truth is that Jill's life is a mess, she's lonely without her family, her husband has morphed into an unrecognizable, strange man and the danger is real.

Tori said...

Some one tweeted in Jills twitter account that Josh was charged over the molestation and it was settled in court. Am I missing somethig here? I always thought that the report was made after the SOL had expired so they couldn't charge him. Anyway not to much love for what they are doing, most telling them to sue their brother and parents, or that its a money grab.

Willow said...

I believe, from everything we have seen and heard - from her own mouth - over time, that JILL is the one who did not want Derick to have a full time job out of the house away from her. This is what she got. It is partly, or mostly, her own fault. Poor Izzy needs to be state-side so he can be safe and loved by Grandma Cathy.

Marites H. said...

I think Jill Duggardillard was expecting her marriage to be just like her parents. Daddy walks around with his coiffed hair and the cellphone on his belt loop, occasionally leaving to house to collect money from the renters and rushing back to his joyfully available wife who is stuck in an 80s timewarp. On the other hand, Derrick seems to prefer the freedom of jungle life. The 9 to 5 at Walmart was probably a compromise.

Opie said...

Grandma Cathy is just as nuts as his parents. Izzy needs to go to school away from his parents and the cult. Hopefully he will get that opportunity.

Dusty said...

Could Izzy already be damaged by the cult way of raising a child? I recall the horrible photo of him screaming while wrapped up tightly in a blanket while Jill did not comfort her child but took photos of his anguish to post for all to see. Dillard recently said Izzy is manipulative...that about a 2 year old!! Izzy's eyes always looks sad, as if he already has had his curiosity and personality warped by his parents. So no, I doubt this child will know anything but the beaten down cult way of life, no school, no sports & no friends outside of the family. I also agree that Jill did not want her husband to work at Walmart because she showed up every day to give him his lunch in the car so he would not be tempted by wild Walmart women at lunch time. At that time, freedom to be together 24/7 in an exotic country must have appealed to Jill but now the harsh reality of danger and isolation from her family and the stranger who was once her husband must be wearing on Jill. How will she ever handle 2 children all by herself in CA?

Opie: How do you know that Cathy is just as crazy as the Duggars? She works a real career job, always had a shorter hairdo, wears pants and dresses fashionably. I know when someone becomes seriously ill, many are drawn to their faith more, but I don't think she's fundy-nuts like the Duggars; her sons attended a real university too.

Meme said...

I promise to slow down my posting but I just have to ask: have you guys ever seen any evidence that any of the Duggar's in-laws are objecting to (or trying to influence) the way the grandkids are being raised? I know that the Duggars have the right to raise their own children however they want. But! That ALSO applies to the in-laws, like Grandma Cathy, doesn't it? She seems like such a sweet lady and is so crazy about Izzy. It may be that people are "going along to get along" or something like that. If that is the case, though, someone may eventually get riled up. After all, the Duggars would most certainly have something to say if the situation was reversed.

Opie said...

Heart in Florida: Cathy is a Christian hypocrite, and is into fake news. Her son is a product of her wing-nut bible beating beliefs. I suspect she is just as alt-right politically as the Duggar/Sewald/Bates cults. No support for LGBT, immigrants, women, educated folk or anyone different from them. I wouldn't want a child anywhere near any of them.

You don't have to be a fundie to have right wing political beliefs. Cathy is a typical Arkansas Southern Baptist in that.

Of all the guys, I'm thinking Josiah is the most likely to break into a creative career like being a chef. I'm not sure if he has any actual talent that way (they seem to use the term "talent" very loosely) but Josiah seems to stand out a bit as artsy and creative. Lots of guys are famous chefs but these fundy folks would consider the kitchen a female jurisdiction.

Marla said...

Mary, the girls get the new gowns because they are free from TLC as are the trips out of town to purchase them. The only one with a hand me down dress was Anna. She never got the opportunity to travel to NYC and try on gowns. Anna has been neglected, used and pushed around by the Duggars after being scammed into marrying a boy who molested his sisters in order to get him out of the Duggar compound. Also, Cherry.....you know those boys are too lazy to work in any profession other then helping out daddy at the rental houses. The evil world outside of Jimbob's control scares them......and it should since they are not socialized or educated to deal with normal living.

Aunt Bea said...

Hi, "Mary"...the girls all get new gowns because it's the most that will EVER happen to them in life, next to having one child after the other. Anna is the only bride that I have heard of that wore her sister, Esther's wedding dress.
This family seems to want it both ways; either they were and are modestly living on their incomes, or they are the multimillionaires that they're reported to be and DO live that lifestyle when no one is looking.
The hospitality house that was built in CA by SOS, is for the host family of the other SOS missionaries. It wasn't build specifically FOR the Dillards; they were the first ones to use it, if I remember correctly. I doubt they'll be back there soon with Jill having D2 in early July and her recovery after that...I'm sure they'll stretch out this 'visit' for as long as they can. Perhaps after Joe and Kendra's wedding later this year.

Aunt Bea said...

Marla: I stand corrected. You are correct about all those free wedding gowns and trips out of town for them. Could no one, including Michelle for her vow renewal find a decent enough gown in all of Arkansas? This is NOT living modestly.

Duggarsbegone said...

Because TLC is footing the bill.

Nancy G. said...

Aunt Bea....Sure there are nice dresses in Arkansas but Jimbob must demand the trip, free transportation, accommodations and restaurants for about 10 of them!! Remember even Benboy got to go to NYC to help find Jinger's wedding dress !! Why not...he has nothing else to do. A real man would be working, not going with his sister in laws and mother in law to look at wedding dresses. What guy would do that?? I guess Jessa demanded he go to take care of the baby. Yes, free trips, free food, free dresses.

Mickey2942 said...

Whatever happened to the Duggar Mantra of "Buy Used, and Save the Difference"?
I guess frugal living doesn't apply when TLC pays the bills...

It is ridiculous that Mama Duggar talks about "saving". The only thing that they do in that family is Grifting. Remember when they all dressed up as pirates for free boxes of donuts? Jim Bob is so cheap he squeaks.

Mickey2942 said...

Really, the show about the Duggars should have been called "19 Kids and Grifting", and the new show should have been named, "Grifting On, and On".

Meme said...

Jill Dillard, along with her sister Jessa, recently appeared on the cover of People magazine, yet she and Dillard are once again asking for "donations." Money from TLC, appearances and speeches, magazine covers, etc. One can certainly understand why they need to ask for other people's cash.

Mindi said...

I think that happy birthday video for Mary Duggar was made on another day; not on 5/26, her actual birthday, because of the wedding being that day. This family needs to quit releasing photos and videos that 'defraud' the viewer.

Wednesday brought up a good point: "A few years ago I was watching an story about why reality tv starts so frequently get divorced.

Are these kids doomed?"

I'm firmly against reality TV shows involving children for several reasons.
- The underage children cannot consent to have their image on TV.
- The pressure to act a certain way to appeal to viewers really messes with the kids and even the adults.
- Healthy and happy families make for boring TV. Reality TV requires drama. If there's not enough drama, the crew will manufacture some by selective editing, scripting crises, or by sending the family off to a new location. It's probably why the family traveled so much before the girls started courting -- it's incredibly disruptive to the children's educations, but it provides fodder for the episodes.
- Growing children need space to explore their identities without fear. If millions are watching you, you don't get the space to question your religion, sexuality, etc.

The statute of limitations had expired so Josh avoided criminal charges, but I believe that he was being sued for civil charges. I'm surprised that it was settled out of court -- the girl could have gotten a lot more money if she'd pushed it to trial and civil trials have a much lower burden of proof than criminal trials. A civil suit succeeds if the jury determines that it's more likely than not (>50% possibility) that the injury happened.

He twisted the Bible for his own agenda. His super annoying reading voice tells us God wants parents to homeschool their kids.
The thing is, I dont think there was elementary, middle and high school in Bible times.
There was a scribal school in 3500 B.C. in Sumeria. The Google told me so.

Re: comment about in-law interference/ influence

One would wonder why other relatives never say or do anything and if anything was wrong in the DUggar house they would interfere or the kids would go to them. I don't think it's so cut and dry.

I have read about those who grew up like this and in other similar beliefs/isolated communities, many are cut from close relatives who don't share the beliefs. In some cases, the relatives had no clue what went on. I feel in the Duggar case, Grandma is conservative enough she sees no wrong in their belief or maybe none of them, Deanna included, want to challenge Jim Bob. Only Grandpa spoke about how he didn't like the constant births, and Amy has made some statements.

If they challenged Jim Bob or one of the kids went to Deanna Amy, or even Grandma, it would cause a riff. I think Michelle's family would be more inclined to help but they live further away. So i'ts either keep in the system or risk losing everyone close and that makes it hard.

We watched the show when they were in NYC, years ago, Jim Bob bought ONE pizza, for 17 people. He asked for cups for water. It was quite amazing. I guess Jim Bob couldn't find anything free that day. Maybe TLC was not picking up the tab. Everyone had a sliver of pizza.

I can see why the Duggars don't want their daughters to have education, they would no longer feel like they are dependent. An education gives people, especially women, freedom. Something against the dogma of control by a man for life.

Mickey2942 said...

Jim Bob is really scraping the barrel, which is saying a lot. He wants to stir up controversy over Josh, to increase intrest in the failing show.

And have the daughters now, cry, with deep mascara tears on tv, about being victimized by the media. Enough already, even the most die hard Duggar fan must be disgsted. Dregs of tabloid cult fetish fans.

Emma said...

Mickey2942: I think the last thing Jimbob wants to do is stir up controversy over Josh, infact I think hes doing his utmost to keep Josh out of the news at the moment. Josh is due in court soon over his Ashley Madison identity theft scandal, and there hasn't been a peep about it. There hasn't been a family photo released with Lurkeo in the background as there was a few months ago. Instead we have had the on, off, on wedding of Joy and Austin and the engagement of Joe and Kendra at said wedding. We have had the lawsuit by the girls over the legally released report about Joshs innocent and curious boy ways. All of this is a distraction from Josh. Despite Jimbobs best efforts (out of court settlement, having case moved to Arkansas) the case is still going ahead. I think there will be a lot of fallout from the Josh scandals over the coming months, and it won't be pretty.

Aunt Bea said...

If the Duggar daughters really want to see that this doesn't happen to sexual abuse victims in the future, they should lobby for legislation to change the laws about releasing formation....not sue governments and publishers for millions of dollars AND KEEP THE MONEY FOR THEMSELVES. They aren't fooling me with this farce.
Since many knew already about it and it was posted on a website, quite accurately, some years ago by "Alice", AND it was no big deal to them, why, then, should they be so traumatized that it was released further? They can't have it both ways. Either it always WAS a big deal to them, and they lied to Megyn during that interview, or it isn't a big deal.

Meme said...

Aunt Bea, you tell it like it is! (Your nailed it with your last sentence). So the Duggars apparently do not realize that if they go to court they are going to have to answer questions...and without their standby words or phrases. It will be no good when asked, "did Josh really touch you?" to say, "well, yes, but it doesn't count since I never gave him a piece of my heart." Seriously, have they thought about how they may be questioned INDIVIDUALLY? With no help from Mom or Dad? Even golden throats Jim Bob and Michelle struggled with that during the soft interviews with Megan Kelly. I do not believe that these girls have a clue what have gotten themselves into.

Mickey2942 said...

I think Jim Bob has no problem throwing Josh under the bus to keep the TLC money train going.

If the tabloids report enough about Josh, it will keep people interested, like gawking at a train wreck. That is why they plan to show more of Josh and Anna, like a peepshow, of tawdriness, among the holy.

The scandal keeps Duggar in the news, and to JimBob, at this point, ANY chance for more publicity and dollars is manna from heaven. Negative or not.

Over on Alyssa Websters instagram page there are pictures of her and Michael at a friends wedding. Both girls are in the bridal party, wearing proper pretty bridesmaids dresses, and pretty flowers, which makes Joys wedding look like a sale at a thrift store. What struck me most about the post was Alyssa referred to the bride as her best friend, when have you ever heard a duggar girl refer to anyone other than a sister as her best friend? I know the Bates family are as involved with ATI/IBLP as the Duggars, more so even as Gil is on the board of directors, and I think three of the daughters have married into other ATI families, but they do seem to be more sociable than the Duggars, even if its only in their own circle. Also wonder why Jimbob isn't on the board of ATI and why none of the daughters so far have married into the ATI clan?

The fact of the matter about the girls' lawsuit is the information being released as it was. Josh is not on trial here for molesting his sisters. I believe questioning in any detail about that matter would be irrelevant to this lawsuit. The local governments and the magazines are being sued, not Josh. Am I correct about this?

And then the timing...no filing until the last one is married...is there some advantage to that? Jmo

This lawsuit beats all. I agree with Heart in Florida that they should be lobbying for change or handling this in some other way because, bottom line: you can't have it both ways. It was a big deal or it was nothing. So which is it?
I remember when the Duggar kids used to deliver homemade goodies to the police department and firemen at Christmastime. I think about how awkward this is going to be for John David. Jim Bob rubs shoulders with so many public figures, in Arkansas, at least. Many, many people helped this man's family long before there ever was a television show (and a fat bank account). He has been given so much by so many. Now he is suing them? If anyone from NW Arkansas is reading, I hope ya'll will remember how this family is repaying your many kindnesses, and I hope that you charge them FULL PRICE for your goods and services from now on!

Re:Daley's comment Do you really think that JB cares one iota what he puts his girls through, i.e. testifying on the stand re: the molestation? The answer is NO. He forced them to go on TV with the Megan Kelly interview, so why should he care about a courtroom in AR. I wonder what Megan Kelly thinks of this family, given the fact that Josh is now trying to get his fingers in the pie claiming the girls got sympathy & his life was ruined. Also that the girls insisted to her that it was really nothing, just a older brother being curious.
