Joy Anna and Austin's Wedding

The latest from the rumor mill is sundown this coming Friday, May 26.

Please remember no putting them down for no booze, no dancing, and no full served dinner.  Thanks!
Also it's off topic to tell us all about your wedding, your cousin in Ohio, etc.

Yes, I've gotten very tired of the repetitive wedding discussions.  :)

The marriage license has been obtained, so it's imminent. http://okmagazine.com/get-scoop/joy-anna-duggar-wedding-update/

I'm still really surprised Joy is getting married this fast. She's still so young.
I am hoping that there will not be a honeymoon baby.

Aunt Bea said...

What I am surprised about is this heading having so little comments posted about Joy's wedding. I think the 'wedding fever' interest has died down with this family. The only wedding left that will draw some attention would be Jana's if she's ever allowed to have a life of her own.

Mickey2942 said...

I have no doubt JB is looking for a groom. That would be the only reason TLC won't dump the show. Even the most die hard Duggar fans must be getting bored by this time.

Sabrina W said...

Could it be even the Duggar fans are bored with the weddings, pregnancy tests and home birthin"? We even had to suffer through the Jimbob & Michelle vow renewals. I remember that ugly dress and the kids running around like wild hillbillies at the classy showroom in NYC where she was given a free modest dress.. Enough with the weddings and birthin", already. Find something new....perhaps the boys starting their own business or Ben or Dillard getting a jobs.

It sure is quiet in the Duggar camp this week. I guess the latest covert wedding plans are in full swing. God forbid anything leaks out and cuts the payout from People Magazine to the Duggars for wedding pictures. SMH.

We have Joe's weddin' to look forward to.

It's going to be disgusting in a month when the sisters start asking little Joy if she is "expecting".

sandi said...

Eloise,I agree.I was 19 when I married as well, but waited 6 1/2 yrs to have our first baby. Some things can wait.
I hope Joy somehow manages not to get knocked up quickly, and has fun on the campground. And that does not mean cleaning or the upkeep of it.Jmo

It's just so sad, how can anyone get excited for another wedding? One more poor girl sacrificed on the alter of her father's crazy beliefs, getting to slave away for her husband and having a baby every year or two. And since she's only nineteen there are many childbearing years ahead of her. Poor Joy, she'll never know an opinion of her own, have an adventure with her girlfriends or even a day by herself before her marriage to examine if she really wants to through with it.

Eli said...

I wonder if anna is making joy a mobile for her wedding gift like she did for jill? Poor joy, she could end up with 20+ children if she's as fertile as her mother since she is getting married so young.

Aunt Bea said...

It's sad whenever Joy was asked any type of 'important' question of substance about herself on the show, she didn't give HER response. It was mostly 'we'll see what daddy says about that', or 'whatever the Lord has in store for me' type of answers. I wonder how she made this decision to marry Austin? I'm sure daddy told her it was God's will for her. Amazing, isn't it, that the Lord speaks only to MALES...but the biggest God/Human conversation took place with a female...when the Lord spoke to Mary, the mother of Jesus, and asked HER permission to bear the Lord for all humanity which gave us Christianity in this world. Something how the Duggars completely forget about that "Lord speaking to mankind".

At least ginger is not with child yet

Eli: As Austin comes from a family of only two children do you think that will have any bearing on the number of kids they will have? They belong to the same crazy religion but does everyone who is Gothard/independant baptist also follow quiverfull? I know some other christians follow the quiverfull movement but are not baptist, just wondering. I have also wondered what happens if a man decideds enough kids are enough and uses protection or has the snip, do the wives get any say at all?

everythingieverwanted said...

Emma - There are many Baptists who do not follow the quiver full movement and there are many who follow the quiver full movement who are not Baptist. I grew up Conservative Baptist and I can think of only one family in our church that followed the quiver full philosophy of "we will have as many children as the Lord blesses us with".

Madness!

People Magazine wrote: Joy-Anna says “We are going to be traveling for our Honeymoon for awhile.” “A lifetime,” adds Austin.

What does that even mean? Perhaps it was just an article thrown together as quickly as possible. Got to love the plug at the end: A new season of Counting On, with Joy-Anna and Austin’s wedding featured in the premier, returns June 12 on TLC.

Who is distancing themselves from whom? Are the Duggar's trying to appear less and less on television or is it TLC is not interested? I ask because in the past weddings episodes would have a really quick turn around. If I'm remembering correctly, Jill was married on a Saturday and the following Tuesday their was a wedding special episode, but now Joy's wedding won't be broadcast before June 12 and it doesn't even appear to be a special episode. We also have not seen Jessa's second home birth episode. Also May sweeps is a really big time in television and the Duggar's haven't been shown at all. I guess this is it. The Duggar's are just slowing drying up and going away, not the complete closing down I imagined.

Joe is engaged! Did it at the wedding

smokey said...

Got to keep that money train going don't we Jim Bob? Joy is the sacrificial daughter. Have to come up with a story for how they met. . Parents are excited. Joy has married her best friend. Austin likes how she is subservient and has such wonderful Christian values. Blah blah blah. Joy gets pregnant. Lather, rinse, repeat. Same old garbage. This show needs to go off the air already like yesterday.

Mommy in PA said...

So I'm seeing news articles that Joseph and Kendra got engaged at Joy's wedding? Didn't they also announce their courtship right around the time of Joy's engagement? As much as it seems like there is always a sibling trying to grab attention on someone else's big day, I think it is more for publicity so there is something else to keep people interested. After the next round of episodes that cover Joy's wedding, we'll be subject to a round of episodes on Jill and Anna giving birth while Joseph and Kendra are wedding planning. They will probably have someone else courting by the end of summer and probably another pregnancy. I'm thinking it will be Joy with a honeymoon baby.

I feel like we're watching the world's longest, most boring baseball game all coached by JB. He put Joy up to bat as soon as Jinger had had her turn and moved to first. Now Jinger has moved to second, Joy hit the ball by getting married and has moved over to first and now Joe has stepped up to the plate for his turn. Meanwhile, Jessa has moved over to third and Jill has recently made it back over home plate (no pun).

I feel like JB will hold off on putting Jana (the ringer) into the game until he absolutely has to. Or would she be the pinch hitter?

So who's up next on the roster, JB?

Josie said...

Anne G....of course she can't wait to be a mother, it's her ONLY goal in life (now that getting married is a done deal). When I was her age I couldn't wait to be done college, go to Europe, get my own apartment, start working and have amazing adventures. Those things are not even remote possibilities for her (unless TLC pays for a trip to London or something). She has absolutely nothing to look forward to expect having babies. Plus, I'm not believing the whole "he's my best friend" thing. I have a feeling she's not exactly extatic about being alone with a boy she barely knows and has next to nothing to talk about with. She probably can't wait to have something to occupy her time besides being dutifully (read: awkwardly) available to this stranger.

I don't understand how they were friends before they started courting. Doesn't Jim Bob jump in front of the opposite sex when they try to talk to any of his property, I mean daughters?

Smokey said...

Especially if they are such good friends how come we never once seen them visiting each other's families or something on the show or see joy or austin together until it is convenient for a new episode of Counting on forever and ever till we all die.

Special Ed Lady said...

If the girls do not like the guy Jim Bob picks out can they say no?

Ginger with a "G" said...

Re:Josie's coments. Great post.I agree with everything you said. I also agree & have been saying ever since I first heard Austin's name, around the time of Jinger's wedding, who the heck is this Austin? I don't believe for one minute they have been lifelong friends. Jim Bob has been auctioning off his daughters ever since he realized that it was his only hope of keeping TLC & the show. I blame a great deal on Michele, as a mother of a daughter I would never allow her to go off to her wedding night as unprepared as these Duggar girls have been. I'm reading all over the internet, some supposedly even from People Magazine, that they were supposed to marry the end of October but decided they couldn't wait & married in May instead.

Captain Crunch said...

I honestly feel sorry for Joy, she just seems so young to be getting married. Where are Joy and Austin going to be living? At his familys boot camp? Also what kind of job does Joe have other than piloting his family around by their private plane?

Christine said...

I don't get why they decided to get married in May instead of the scheduled date in October. It would have provided more time to film episodes. Were they afraid that another scandal would break and Austin would get cold feet or that the two hormonal teenagers would manage to escape their chaperones and jump each other?

Elspeth said...

I don't get why they decided to get married in May instead of the scheduled date in October.

They never planned to marry in October. They used her birthday as a placeholder so people not invited to the wedding wouldn't know the date. The registry even said it wasn't the wedding date.

Willow said...

Regarding whether Joy and Austin are really best friends: We don't really know for sure, per se. However, the Duggars have known Austin's family for many, many years. In the first year or two of the show, JB took his girls and the Query girls to a father/daughter camping weekend at Camp Rock (The place Austin's family owns). I think they already even knew the Forsyth's then. So, yes, the families have known each other for a long time. Whether Austin and Joy in particular were best friends, who knows, but obviously they are now. lol. I also wanted to mention that Joe is not the family pilot. That is John David and Josiah; unless I have totally missed that part.

Heart in Florida said...

How could have Joy and Austin been good friends these years? Their belief system says that they're not allowed to develop any friendships with the opposite sex in the first place. This family lies more and more. Preposterous.

lisa mcgingess said...

Captain Crunch said...

Oh! You are right! John David is the pilot! I'm sorry for some reason I thought it was Joe.

Olive said...

Re: Lisa McGingess comments. Where did you see the videos?

Sabrina W said...

Austin's parents do not have "tons of kids" so why put that burden on young Joy. I hope she and Austin move far away from all parents and build a normal life together.

Finally Get Sanity said...

Re: Sabrina's comment about Joy & Austin not having tons of kids. Also moving away It ain't never gonna happen. Joy is already giving magazine interviews saying she can't wait to be a mother. I don't think she's referring to 2 or 3 kids. She absolutely needs to be near her parents or in-laws. She doesn't know how to live on her own.

Jaded Longtime Watcher said...

In the video, why the double hand holding? It just looked odd. I cannot believe TLC let them look so awkwardly weird for that little interview.

Blue and orange? What a strange mix of colors - unless they are your college colors. Wait - neither of these kids went to college so that can't be it. At least the dresses the girls were wearing was not as awful as the one Jill chose!

Jinger and Jeremy looked so relaxed together and she spoke with a normal voice without staring at him in awe. Maybe they have a chance for a normal life after all! Joy and Austin should move far away from the compounds and try it.

Sarah G. said...

I really don't see how Joy & Austin could move away from their parents -- especially her. She is such a child in so many ways. As far as we know, she's never left the house by herself (like a shopping trip to buy NEW cute shoes). Maybe if she'd had a chance to have her own apartment and opportunity to fend for herself (get a job, buy groceries, hang out with co-workers, cook what she wants to eat), this would work out better. JB & Michelle clipped her "wings" and forcefully tossed her from the nest, expecting her to soar. I predict at this time next year, she'll be cleaning toilets at the campground and taking a quick break to pop out a baby (another toilet birth maybe??). Then she'd be expected to be up and working again right away. The future is not so bright for any of these Duggar newlyweds.

Just asking said...

Re: Jaded Longtime Viewer's comment about the double handholding. It reminds me of the ridiculous "hand sex" we saw with Jos & Anna. I remember people were so fed up with that crazy handholding, then dubbed "hand sex" Josh & Anna did. It's worse when you realize that Jim Bob & Michelle allowed that to be filmed when they knew that Josh had already been involved in molestation. Here he was trying to prove to all viewers how pure they both were, well maybe Anna but certainly not Josh. I'm not accusing anyone else of that but it is strange that this is the way they find to express their love & affection instead of a hug or kiss on the cheek. Double hand holding equals "hand sex." JMHO

Sabrina said...

I can't imagine Joy wanting to go through the scary and painful home births as she has witnessed. Hope she's permitted to go to a hospital instead of give birth in the campground.
About the double hand holding....they are married so could they think they are doing something very sexy in their minds?

Andrea said...

Anyone else see the TLC video: Joy's Sisters share marital advice. I think this video is further confirmation that Michelle really does no parenting. Ginger talked at length about Joy and how she was such a spirited child and she was running around barefoot and she didn't like getting her hairbrushed. I have never seen or heard Michelle or Jim Bob talk with such affection or with even basic insights about their children. It always: "She has a servants heart. She's there to help with a smile on her face." The same thing said about every single daughter - sad.

Dana Alton said...

I guess little Joy is experiencing more then double hand holding at this point. Though she is a spirited type of person.....she was still innocent, protected and now....pregnant quickly? Hope not

Heart in Florida said...

The Duggar parents should be ashamed of themselves regarding all that fake "Josh purity" stuff. When he and Anna were courting, he pontificated about following their rules, being and remaining pure. I guess this only pertained to Anna, as we know the truth about him now. They have no 'face'. They straight out lied about all of that and knew it. That is, to me, enough reason to have cancelled their fictitious TV show.

Really Fed Up said...

Excellent post Heart in Florida! I totally agree with everything stated about Josh's purity fairytale & especially Jim Bob & Michelle backing him up to the hilt. Why isn't something that's an outright lie no, other way to put it , enough to cancel the Duggars?? Believe me, there's no more truth to the "Counting On" show, than there was with 19 Kids & Counting. Enough TLC, get rid of all of them!!

Jills marrigae advice to joy anna is to get curtains.
Jessas marriage advice is to take lots of honeymoon pics.
Joy annas teenage advice after being married for about 2.5 seconds to her older brother about to marry a barely legal is 'just enjoy the relationship.
Im beginning to think it really IS possible for them to get to know each other after a couple months.
Since everyone is so 'sweet' and 'wonderful'.
Who refers to their 22 year old as sweet?

Aunt Bea said...

Andrea, I felt the same way as you did about the sisters saying nice things about Joy. They spoke like they were her mother; ie, brushing her hair, rubbing her back if she's crying, etc. Those girls raised their brothers and sisters unequivocally IMO. Michelle's tributes to her birth babies is cold and removed. She says nothing as personal as the girls did. We are correct about Michelle and how she has never been 'in to raising' her children or children in general.

Daley said...

Once they marry are they allowed to go somewhere, such as the grocery store, without an entourage? I keep wondering about Jinger needing to go get milk for supper when her husband is busy with something else. Is she allowed to run to the store or does she have to wait on him?

betsy said...

That's an interesting question, Daley. How can people not trust one another to such a degree that they must accompany them everywhere to prevent any wild sexual encounters, like at the grocery store. I recall one of the Duggar boys chaperoned Jeremy when he picked up friends at the airport. Who is watching Dillard as he romps through the CA jungle when Jill stays home? Is Jimbob demanding stricter rules for the married couples due to Josh's cheating? Who watches JImbob when he goes out alone? Has Michelle ever gone to the store alone in all the years she has been a Gothard follower? So many questions, so crazy, so confusing !!

Emma said...

Well now they are hitched they have instagram and guess what its a joint instagram! They posted a picture of the two of them in a car, Joy holding on to strange little Austins arm for grim death. All of the married Duggar girls have their own instagram accounts, so I'm wondering if Austin is going to be a control freak, shes not even trusted after marriage? The married bates girls who have insta all have joint accounts but it seems to be only them who post on them not the husbands. The account must be real as Jessa has their post up on her instagram. I'm not tech savvy and don't have any of these accounts, so is their another reason to have joint accounts?

Heart in Florida said...

Daley and betsy: Great posts. I never thought about DDD frolicking around the CA jungle by himself on his way to 'fellowship and preach' to the heathen Catholics down there. I'd like for someone to ask him about that.
If I remember correctly, a married woman IS allowed to run errands by herself; but they have yet to do so that I have seen on their videos, photo posts and the show. Those young brides have babies born so quickly, it is a very short time before they have to bring a baby out with them, so they aren't alone much. I have always seen Michelle on TV, anyway, never go out without one of the kids with her. The same goes for Jim Bob; he has had someone with him; one of the boys at least. Their words and actions often conflict with each other.
I'm surprised to see a photo of Spurge 'playing' hide and go seek. I though that was one of the cardinal rules...NO hide and seek in the Duggar family. Well, here's yet another contradiction. I wonder what other 'rules' they have abandoned, but have neglected to inform the public about.

lisa mcgingess said...

joy and austin are already talking kids. they have been married a week? hope they wait? I am glad jinger is not with child yet. probably getting on her about kids already. I am sure jessa is. I am sure jessa is probably jealous of her because she has two kids with lazy ben who is a baby and she is probably doing all the work around the house with no help. and will have another kid by the end of this year.

Not a Mocker said...

I though that was one of the cardinal rules...NO hide and seek in the Duggar family.
---
That was a rule Jim Bob and Michelle put in place for their house. No one said all their children had to take ALL their (many many) rules with them when they got married.
How many parents honestly make their children follow every single rule they had to when they were growing up.

Wednesday said...

Just throwing this out there, but not in defense. Maybe the Duggars don't go anywhere alone because they so many people recognize them and it would be a little scary to be alone and have people following you around in the grocery store taking pictures of every single thing you put in your cart.

Vilente said...

If Jimbob was confident his moral teaching to his children was effective, he would trust his children to leave the house alone. Wouldn't the situation be insulting if Jana said she wanted to go to the store alone at the age of 26 and Jimbob refused to let her use the car unless she brought along a little spy child. I bet Jimbob interrogates the spies upon return home......did Jana talk to a man unsupervised? etc.

Aunt Bea said...

Wednesday: the never alone when going out of the house rule was already implemented as a belief of theirs long before the TV show began.
As far as the hide and go seek rule; I believe that occurred with Spurge in the TTH.

lisa mcgingess said...

if what aunt bea said is true then do they take someone in the bathroom if they have to go in a public washroom? i would hope this is not true but knowing how crazy jim bo is would not put it passed him? no wonder these kids have no social skill. I really wonder if they know how to act around normal people. these people are creppy.

Tori said...

Michelle once said that they send them out in twos because that is how the disciples went out. The disciples went out and ministered and spread the word, don't think they are doing that going to the mall, thrift store, local coffee house or tacos for life! The bottom line is JB does not trust his kids or the outside world. Remember when they were in Israel and the girls were in the sea (fully clothed) a couple of young men came over to talk and Jimbob was over there quicker than a great white smelling blood miles away, and there were cameras there, what did he think would happen? If Josh hadn't commited his crimes I wonder if things might have been a little bit different, that and the cult mentality really messed with their minds.

Just Unbelivable said...

I always believed one of the reasons the men started talking to the girls when they were in the water in Israel, was because of the camera crew they had with them. Of course, they were dressed in their "modern modest swimwear," which I personally think only attracts more attention, sort of like the way the girls wear those tops across their pregnant bellies. I remember JB running into the water & immediately loudly announcing; "I'm the Dad." I don't know about others but whenever you see a camera crew filming, it calls attention to whoever or whatever is being filmed. I'm sure these men wanted to speak to these young women, it's only natural & the filming increased their curiosity. If I remember correctly, they were in the process of asking the girls where they were from. I'm sure the next question would have been what's going on with the cameras. Actually, they had a right to know as they were right there in the eye of the camera & were there first. I remember people said JB showed what an Ugly American is like in visiting another country.

Re:lisa mcgingess's comment. What a contradiction re:Joy & Austin married a week, talking about kids. I hope they wait!

Wondering Why said...

Looks like Joy is getting the short end of the stick when it comes to People Magazine. I won't even pick that up in an office but it's all over the internet that Joy didn't make the cover & that all you need to do is substitute any other Duggar girls name in as the bride, & it will be the same thing as far as the wedding & what they are expecting out of married life. Same thing different day. Is any of this getting through to TLC?

Aunt Bea said...

I find it strange to compare Jesus sending out His disciples two by two to preach the Word to sending Jana out to the grocery store for a gallon of milk. The Duggar parents are full of it. It is for accountability plain and simple...so they don't stray the 'line'.

Dar said...

With all the talk of accountability, who was watching Joshie? These young women who are supposed to be protected because there were always people around fell victim to one of their own. Jim Bob nearly had a heart attack when he saw young men talking to his daughters who were fully clothed in the water. There seemed to be no outrage from the parents as to Josh's action. It was as if it was not that important. Their actions only support the thought of many that the only important thing now is money. I see Josh's picture with his little family is popping up when they were celebrating one of his children's birthdays. It won't be long before his cheesy face will be among those for the "Counting On" show. If that happens, I sincerely hope all the viewers quite watching En Masse. JMHO

There's not a chance of that with Joy & Austin. Very sad.

anyone see the video joy and austin put out when on their honeymoon? thanks for the cards and the prayer? seemed so unnatural? they did not even seem like a couple in love. seem they did not even have anything to say to each other? just seems like everything is forced in how they acted and talked to each other how sad? I also think they are camping at yellowstone from what I could see in the back ground. all this seems so sad? I truly would like to know what the other little girl lives are going to be like? Jenny always looks so unhappy and so does jorden only kid that looks happy is joise because michelle is always giving her attention? no wonder Joy is crying on her wedding day not for happyiness but for sadness?

Aunt Bea said...

I noticed on the Family Page that it's Josie who's sitting in the front seat of that frog ride in Silver Dollar City...always gets the best her parents can to for her. They must have annual passes as they're always there. What about 'school'? These kids seem to never be in homeschool class.
I wonder how Joy will feel about living a 'camping lifestyle' with Austin when she has has 'ladies days' or is continually pregnant? It's not so great to be big pregnant and hike in the mountains, nor is it so great to have to tend to yourself during 'those days'....not a life I'd envy.

Re: Aunt Bea's comment about Joy's life after her marriage. She could end up living in a cabin on the Foryth's property with no plumbing or running water. We saw Josh show Anna the small house they would be living in after their marriage & ask if it would do. We saw Jill & Derick take a tour of the mansion with J.B. who pointed out the phone in the bedroom & said they could call him if they thought they had conceived. We saw Jessa & Ben take a tour of the house that had been Josh & Ann's & we saw the Duggars decorated the apartment that Jinger & Jeremey would be living in, after his mom had already decorated it. Not so with Joy. We saw J.B. take the girls to the camp for a weekend & they stayed in a terrible cabin. So who knows. But Joy made her bed, provided by her "Daddy," so she will have to lie in it. Of course, if you marry the man who has been your best friend all your life, maybe he will probably provide you with a wonderful home but don't forget it's a campground, & most are not that beautiful or special. They are at best very plain. After all it's just a campground.

Aunt Bea said...

Mary, yes you are correct in remembering that the Duggars have said that their children's friends are their own siblings and their BEST friends. ...yes, they aren't allowed to have any type of relationships, even as children, with the opposite sex..so how can Joy and Austin be such great friends for 15 years?...that would have made Joy 4 years old.

Elspeth said...

Austin flips houses as a business. They have said that they are building a new house halfway between the two sets of parents. Austin currently owns a house about halfway between the parents. Perhaps they intend to live there while building a new house. It sounds like they have discussed the plan.

Not a Duggar Fan Anymore said...

If the Duggars want to claim they were such close friends with Austin's family, that's one thing. But with the big age discrepancy, I'd find it more likely for him to be best buds with John-David or maybe Joseph. I hope Joy-Anna has fun getting to know Austin and that they find enough common ground to be maintain a lifelong relationship. No divorcing allowed. She's trapped and I think it's dawned on her now. As long as JB is happy, that's all that matters.

Meme said...

Of all the married daughters I feel sorriest for Joy. I remember when Austin's parents were on that episode of "World's Strictest Parents" and they really put those teens to WORK. While there is nothing wrong with that, it is certainly a sign of what's to come for Joy. Austin's parents seem like decent, no nonsense people who believe in NO IDLE HANDS EVER! Poor Joy.
One other thing. CRYING at one's wedding is usually a red flag. I don't know how many women have commented that they cried on their wedding day and everyone thought it was happiness or nerves. Yet they were not happy tears and they were not due to stress.

Elsa said...

Yet they were not happy tears and they were not due to stress.
I have to disagree. I've seen the previews and to me people are exaggerating the few tears plus we have no way of knowing how Joy Anna felt on that day.

My mother used to try to tell me how I felt about things because she "could just tell" and it still really bothers me that people think they can look at someone and be all I know what they're feeling.

Kitty Kazz said...

To a Gothard Cult woman her wedding day is one of a few days in her entire life where she is the centre of attention, (the other days are announcing a pregnancy or giving birth). Being one of 19 children, combined with her sheltered upbringing, never in her young life has Joy experienced such attention before. This possibly was overwhelming, poor kid.

CatMom said...

I just saw that preview clip, and it did look like Joy was crying but in more scared/stressed way rather than "happy tears" way. But, it's such a short clip. I think we have to see the context. Even then, we don't know what Joy was really feeling. I just hope she wanted this marriage and did not feel forced into it at all.

laura said...

I agree about the friend thing. Michelle and jim bob let their 4 year old girl be besties with a 9 year old boy? The child of campground owners? Not even friend friends. Just a business they frequent.
It really does sound weird.
And agree with some poster that say shes getting more personal attention than ever. Maybe she cant see past that and a being allowed to get close to a boy that is so totally 'into' her. In a purely slave manner that is. The things he said he liked about her were the most boring impersonal things. That was all that was in his silly simple tiny brain. That was all he could come up with. Wow joy is a lucky duck.
Couldn't bring myself to watch their wedding video thing but i saw them holding both each other hands crossed in their laps. Uhg.
And if it true that she says 'we'll see what daddy thinks' about everything as another poster has said then YES she was shooed into this marrige. 100% percent. And of course she said yes so she could be like her sisters with all the attention.100%
the girls do not have the initiative here. 'Daddy' went husband shopping for joy. 100%.
He likes to pick weirdos. He really is a sadist. Making sure he has complete control.
LOVE that jinger is outta there.
And now josh wants to sue because he got embarrassed tgat he got caught molesting his sisters?
I didnt know I could laugh that hard/drop dead of shock over his monstrous lack of shame.

Of course Joy Duggar had her own reasons for crying at the wedding and we don't know what those reasons were. What I was referring to was a 9 year period when I was helping with marriage counseling (of couples who were in trouble) and SCORES of young women shared how they cried at the wedding and how everyone just assumed that they were happy - quite the eye opener. Anyway, those of you who are still viewing can let the rest of us know your take on the matter when they air the wedding episode. BTW, does anyone know any background on Austin's mother? I am curious about why they do not have a bunch of children like the Duggars, Bates, etc.

If Joy was crying because she was scared or stressed, she had every right to. Daddy finds the girls a new authority figure and I feel they are pressured into starting a courtship that will soon turn into an engagement amd then a wedding all within a few months. They are never allowed to talk or be alone with their future husband without someone being with them. This tells me that Jboob and Mullet have no confidence in how well they think they trained their kids. When Jillymuffin was engaged, she was not allowed to go with Derick alone to the hospital to visit his mom, and they were not allowed to be alone on their wedding day in the church to call his mom. They are alone with their husbands for the first time in a bedroom and are expected to conceive as quickly as possible. The only advice they get from Mullet is to always joyfully submit as anyone can make their husband a sandwich, but they are the only one who can fulfill their physical needs. Josh got the lego talk from Jboob before he got married, but I guess nothing was said about him being faithful.

Well, someone needed to get married, more fodder for the cameras. Jana is needed at home to make sure that the kids get fed, and the laundry is done.

I doubt Joy had any choices. She was definitely not offered the opportunity for college, or to get a job. Get married or stay home. Not much of a choice.

Why won't TLC film a Blanket Training session. This show with its Duplicitous Duggars would be cancelled in a heartbeat.

I have the say that the pictures that are surfacing of Joy and Austin's wedding make it look like it was very classy and special. Many of the pictures show real happiness on both their faces.

Joy and Austin are in Switzerland for their honeymoon. It's obvious to be that they don't have the money for such a trip and it's another freebie from TLC. I'm sure they'll pay to film the building of their house and have a crew come in and actually do the work in record speed after filming Austin'doing the work' himself. I'll believe that when pigs fly. So entitled, they really need to get out of the public eye as they are losing their modest, Godly perspective on life and don't live it anymore.

I don't really see any true happiness or chemistry between Joy and Austin. I'm not saying they're miserable or dislike each other, but they don't really come off as a couple to me.

Frannie D. said...

There is less chemistry at all between Joe & Kendra. How uncomfortable and embarrassing it must be to suddenly be married and make yourself available to a man you have never talked to in private. Traumatic time I imagine. I wonder if Jimbob will give Joe the lego talk!!

Sharla said...

Joy never intended a fall wedding. She used her birthday as a placeholder for the date she did not want to reveal on the registry - as she plainly stated.

Nadia said...

Joe seems to me that he needs more then a lego lesson to figure out a husband's role in marriage abd Kendra looks just as clueless. Forced to live sheltered lives without books, tv or normal friends, they are kept like innocent little children....then bang.......they are married, alone in room with this person Jimbob picked out for them and expected to suddenly carry on like a normal couple in real love. Television interviews to follow where they must act like all is well, they are so blessed to be together. Someday there has to be a tell all book.

Sabrina W said...

Jimbob is a perverted man to arrange marriages for his daughters. The poor girls spend their childhood without any affection so sure they are excited and fall in love (in a middle school sort of way) with the chosen man. Jimbob knows what he's doing, deprive them then give the girls a special moment in the sun during the courting process. After the wedding, the harsh reality sets in, such as Jill's situation now, stuck with a weird man and popping out babies for the Gothard cause.

Anna has stated that until two weeks before her marriage she had no idea about what goes on in the bedroom (to put it mildly). It would have been useless information.
I have to wonder what, if anything, Joe and Kendra know about this. Most likely they are completely clueless about the facts of life. They obviously know about kissing, as Joe has witnessed his parents behaving as such in front of the world. I can't imagine that Jana, a woman of 27?, is just as clueless. It's almost an abuse of their intellect and emotional development to be left behind a lead curtain about the most basic fundamental fact of life. These single adults have been trained up to shut their brains 'off' in that department and build a wall around those inquiries...then after the wedding, they're supposed to carry on with warp speed in reproducing. They claim balance in their lives? They live anything but balance.

My Way said...

If Anna didn't know about what goes on in the bedroom until 2 weeks before her marriage, then just how did she know & understand what Josh did to is sisters & a visitor. She has said both she & her parents knew all about it. Just when did they know? Again they lie.

Grandma Wagner said...

Lies are catching up with the Duggars as it is difficult for them to keep it all straight in the correct timeline, like Anna's knowing about Josh's abuse of his sisters. The need to start writing down a time line. Too much is happening to fast, too many lies to sort out.

Heart in Florida said...

Great thought, My Way. I wondered some time ago how the Kellers explained Josh's actions to a totally pure Anna. It's one lie after another with these people. I think the Kellers were very vague and general IF they spoke to Anna at all and IF they knew much themselves about it.
My mother used to say that it takes a very good memory for a liar to maintain all the lies. When you tell the truth about things, it's easy to keep the truth straight.
I still ask: which was it? Were the Duggars 'just doing fine' with $250,000 for JB's campaign in the bank? so why were they packed like sardines in a can in that small house and had to accept donations of food on their doorstep? What was their story?

Lizzyb said...

I actually thought it was a nice wedding. I didn't like Joseph's wedding proposal and was also appalled by the ladies who were making the cupcakes with their long hair hanging down rather than being tied back.Could not stand any commentary by Michelle or Jim Bob but otherwise, it was a sweet and happy affair.

Heart in Florida said...

Yes, Libbyb: the first thing I noticed about the cup cake baking marathon was all that HAIR handing on top of that batter. Don't they know to put their hair back with a barette and to WEAR GLOVES when preparing food for others to eat? So unsanitary and clueless.

Aunt Bea said...

I felt that Joe's proposal to Kendra was rushed and had absolutely no privacy and no 'leading up to' moments for her. Before I blinked, it was already over...Joy giving Kendra has bouquet, Joe IMMEDIATELY dropping to his knee and proposing? I'd say Kendra was ambushed in front of 1002 people. Just not romantic, personal or private, not special either. More like theatrics. I'm sure he meant it, but man, do it more privately.

Dusty said...

That wasn't the first time we've seen unsanitary Duggar food preparation. They never learn or maybe to lazy to be cleaner. Why isn't Michelle speaking up.....girls pull your hair back and put on these plastic gloves?

Duggarsbegone said...

Because she does the same thing. UGH.

Meme said...

Yeh, the handing off the bouquet/sudden proposal was sorta cringeworthy to me. I've never met a woman yet who wants a public proposal. But hey, it keeps the show going, right?

Aunt Bea said...

Dusty, Michelle speaking up at the food preparation in the kitchen would have meant that Michelle would have GONE IN TO THE KITCHEN...a room she avoids at all costs, especially when work is being done and pots have to be scrubbed...don't ya know?

Dusty said...

Aunt Bea.....you are so wrong. Once Michelle cooked an egg!!!

Just thinking about Duggarland;; said...

Real wives and mothers find great pleasure in the act of preparing nourishment for their family, planning a nice meal and the act of cooking it and presenting it to their families
Sure the kids can help clean up but normal mothers see to it the family is presented with healthy food. It's part of the mothering instinct.

sandi said...

Michelle once washed a pot,too!
I think Michelle mainly fixes things for herself, since she does Weight Watchers.I won't call it cooking. She heated up a soy burger on a youtube video. And obviously Jana does the real cooking,if you can call making processed food that

Aunt Bea said...

I think the cooking thing with Michelle is that 17 year old newlywed, Michelle, never learned how to cook. I think she and Jim Bob ate convenience foods those years that it was just them, about 4 years before Joshie was born. They found Gothard after he was born and she lost J'Caleb, so the babies came quickly after that and she was told about the 'pass the children on' method with jurisdictions. So, she quickly passed on the cooking to Jana, the lucky one who was the eldest daughter. Michelle has never learned how to cook a real meal other than an egg. She didn't have to learn how to cook, so she never bothered. Jana is a self-taught 'child cook'. That's why they use prepared ingredients and nothing really fresh. So lazy of Michelle, as she was the entitled, spoiled change- of- life baby in her own family. She just stayed spoiled and treated like royalty her whole life. I always wondered why Michelle gets away with not doing any of the Gothard-mother things, like home school your own children, etc. She really does nothing.

sandi said...

Aunt Bea,remember JB 'needs' for her to be available at all times for him,so that's how she gets out of doing anything

Aunt Bea said...

Sandi, that makes Michelle little more than a sex slave to her husband. Disgusting. Her husband states he has so much respect and love for her, but nothing could be further from the truth, really, to treat your wife's body like that. Both of them are jerks, IMO.

sandi said...

I agree,Aunt Bea.Not only that, but Michelle has to be 'joyfully available',whether she feels like it or not.Which means plastering a smile on her face, no matter how she feels.
I'd much rather have the truth about how someone feels about being with me,than a fake or fraud. But I guess JB doesn't mind,as long as things go his way.I think he is rather spoiled, like a little kid who always gets his way.jmo

Aunt Bea said...

A real man knows it's ok to be turned down sometimes by his wife. He should be able to take it. Jim Bob is no real man, just a tall kid.

roddma said...

It isn't just Michelle's job to make nutritious food or make food at all. They got a daddy and adult sons too. But in their belief, gender roles are the norm.

Aunt Bea said...

Why can't Jim Bob make Michelle a sandwich once in a while?

Betsy said...

Because Jimbob's goal is to get free sandwiches at restaurants.

sandi said...

The last time JB made a sandwich,it was that awful tuna mixed with bbq sauce.Yuk! He acted like he had come up with some genius new recipe
